Roebling Point Books & Coffee opens New location
Roebling Point Books has opened an additional bookstore at 601 Overton Street in Newport, Ky. The building was built in 1889 as Wadsworth Watch Case Company and operated at that location for 61 years until purchased by the Elgin National Watch Co.in 1953. However, in 1958 the business closed due to loss of sales to foreign imports. The next occupant was a gas station which was in business until the early 80’s. The building was empty when Roebling Point Books began leasing it in 2021. The photos of the entrance and garage door wall capture aspects of the former gas station. The owner, Richard Hunt, has placed many interesting antiques (some for sale) throughout the bookstore which make for an interesting experience when visiting the store. Both this bookstore and their location at 306 Greenup Street in Covington Ky. are well worth the trip to peruse the books or have a treat from the coffee bar.
Roebling Point Books & Coffee was a watch case manufacturing plant first and then a gas station. It is a very unique setting with antiques and books.
